Jakarta — Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) Ministry Religious Affairs Of The Republic Of Indonesia (Kemenag) signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with Japan Islamic Trust (JIT) and 36 Overseas Halal Certification Bodies (HCB).
The MRA is signed by the Head of BPJPH M. Aqil Irham with Secretary General of JIT, Mr Haroon Qureshi. The MRA between BPJPH and JIT is in an agreement to accelerate the completion of HCB assessments for recognition and acceptance of halal certificates. The MRA signing was one of a series of H20-Halal World 2023 activities which took place in Jakarta.
“We hope that the results of this MRA will be immediately followed up and implemented, with the hope that it will have positive impact for the global halal ecosystem. In particular, we also have an interest in optimizing the economic value of industrial activities and trade in halal products for the recovery and strengthening of the national economy from the niche halal product industry whose value is very promising,” stated Mr M. Aqil Irham.
Under the SJPH (Halal Product Assurance System) regulation, all halal foods and beverages products entering Indonesia market from overseas have a mandatory to be halal certified by 17th October 2024. The halal certification bodies which certified the products must be recognized and accepted by BPJPH.
